GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's soccer team struck first on the road Tuesday (Aug. 26) afternoon but couldn't hold off a second-half rally, falling 2-1 to Georgetown College at Toyota Stadium.
The Wolverines grabbed the early advantage in the 12th minute when senior midfielder Mallory Botten buried a shot from 15 yards out along the left side for her first goal of the season. UM-Dearborn carried the 1-0 lead into halftime behind a steady defensive effort and strong goalkeeping from Julia Tasker, who tallied six saves in the opening half.
Georgetown found its equalizer midway through the second frame, as Kali Settle converted from distance in the 67th minute. Just under 10 minutes later, the Tigers broke the deadlock when Bekah Clark finished a breakaway opportunity off a pass from Kendyl Rumple, giving the hosts a 2-1 advantage they would not relinquish.
Tasker finished with 10 saves on 12 shots on goal, keeping the Wolverines within striking distance throughout. UM-Dearborn generated six total shots, including three on target from Botten, Farida Youssef, and Olivia Trosen.
