Wolverines Dominate Defiance for First WHAC Win of the Season

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's soccer team put together its most complete performance of the season, earning a decisive 4-0 victory over Defiance College (Ohio) on Saturday afternoon at home. The win marked the Wolverines' first WHAC victory of the year.
UM-Dearborn (2-8-2, 1-3-1 WHAC) controlled the match from start to finish, outshooting Defiance 27-8 and holding the Yellow Jackets without a corner kick. Nadia Saab opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, finishing a pass from Mallory Botten to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Wolverines broke the game open. Macy Burton doubled the lead with an unassisted strike in the 54th minute, followed by goals from Tyler Samples (assist: Henna Mahmood) and Talia List (assist: Amani Ahmad) in the final ten minutes to seal the win.
Defensively, Michigan-Dearborn was sharp as goalkeeper Julia Tasker earned her first shutout of the season, stopping all four shots on goal she faced.
With the result, the Wolverines snapped a six-game winless streak and will look to carry the momentum into their next WHAC contest.
