GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's soccer team put together a strong defensive effort on the road but ultimately fell 2–0 to Cornerstone University on Wednesday evening at CU Soccer Stadium.
The Wolverines held their own early, limiting the Golden Eagles' attack despite heavy offensive pressure. Cornerstone broke through in the 34th minute when Ally Merrihew scored off an assist from Brooke Harmsen, giving the hosts a 1–0 advantage at halftime.
UM-Dearborn continued to battle in the second half, led by goalkeeper Isabelle Shaw, who turned away 10 shots in a standout performance. Offensively, the Wolverines generated six total shots, with Nadia Saab and Mallory Botten each putting efforts on goal.
Cornerstone sealed the victory late, as Gracie Gortmaker netted an insurance goal in the 86th minute, again assisted by Harmsen.
