DEARBORN, Mich. — The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to Rochester Christian College on Wednesday afternoon at Wolverine Field.
Rochester Christian struck early, opening the scoring in the 4th minute through Jenna Schodowski, then doubled the lead late in the first half with a goal from Olivia Howes. Howes continued her strong outing after the break, netting twice more in the second half to complete her hat trick and extend the visitors' advantage to 4-0.
The Wolverines battled until the final whistle, breaking through in the closing seconds when Mallory Botten scored her team-leading second goal of the season off an assist from Olivia Trosen in the 90th minute. Botten led UM-Dearborn offensively with seven shots and four on target, while goalkeeper Julia Tasker made eight saves in net.
With the loss, the Wolverines move to 2-10-3 overall (1-5-2 WHAC) and continue conference play this weekend.
