Lacrosse Taken Down by No. 1 Madonna
UM-Dearborn faced a tough test in conference play on Saturday afternoon, as Madonna used a fast start and a high-powered offensive performance to defeat the Wolverines 27-5.

LIVONIA, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn lacrosse team dropped a conference matchup Saturday afternoon, falling to No. 1 Madonna 27-5 in WHAC action.
Madonna (6-1, 2-0 WHAC) seized control early, scoring nine goals in the opening quarter to take a commanding lead. The Crusaders continued their offensive surge in the second period, adding ten more goals to carry a 19-3 advantage into halftime.
Michigan-Dearborn (3-4, 0-2 WHAC) found the scoreboard midway through the second quarter when Aidan Meyers scored on an unassisted effort. The Wolverines added two more goals before the break, including a man-up tally from Garrett Kern and an unassisted strike by Shane Marion.
The Wolverines showed some momentum early in the third quarter. Jeremy Fancett scored unassisted before Meyers added his second goal of the game on a man-up opportunity assisted by Dylan Thorpe, trimming the deficit to 21-5.
Madonna, however, maintained control throughout the contest, finishing with significant advantages in shots (68-17), ground balls (47-29), and faceoff wins (26-10).
Meyers led Michigan-Dearborn with two goals, while Kern, Marion, and Fancett each added a goal. Thorpe and Cole Rosenwald recorded assists for the Wolverines.
In goal, Owen Reed and Daniel Acosta split time in net, combining for 20 saves.
Madonna was paced offensively by Marcus Villagomez and Rico Hart, who each scored four goals, while Benjamin Reidy and Matthew DiSalle added three goals apiece.
