Wolverines Dominate from Start to Finish in 14-4 Rout of Siena Heights
The University of Michigan-Dearborn men’s lacrosse team delivered a complete offensive performance Wednesday night, scoring early and often in a commanding 14-4 victory over Siena Heights in WHAC action.
ADRIAN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn lacrosse team wasted no time asserting control, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the opening quarter behind goals from Garrett Kern, Cole Rosenwald, and Jeremy Fancett. The Wolverines continued to build momentum in the second, with Fancett adding his second of the night and Gabriel De La Paz scoring unassisted to push the advantage to 5-0 at halftime.
The offensive surge continued in the third quarter as Michigan-Dearborn poured in five more goals. Fancett completed his hat trick early in the frame, while Aidan Meyers and Cooper Hallwood each found the back of the net—Hallwood striking twice in quick succession. Despite a brief response from Siena Heights with a pair of man-up goals, Dylan Thorpe answered late in the quarter to make it 10-2 heading into the fourth.
In the final period, the Wolverines maintained control on both ends. Rosenwald added his second goal of the contest, while Charlie Woodcock and Brody Marlatt each contributed down the stretch, with Marlatt scoring twice in the closing minutes to cap the 14-goal performance.
Fancett led the attack with three goals, while Rosenwald (2G, 3A) and Thorpe (1G, 4A) orchestrated the offense with five-point performances. Hallwood added two goals, and De La Paz contributed a goal and two assists in a balanced effort that saw 10 different Wolverines record a point.
Defensively, Michigan-Dearborn limited Siena Heights to just nine shots on goal. Daniel Acosta earned the win in net, making five saves over 60 minutes of work.
The Wolverines controlled possession throughout, winning the ground ball battle 31-26 and forcing 32 turnovers, while also going 25-for-27 on clears.
