Wolverines Drop Home Contest to No. 3 Aquinas
The University of Michigan-Dearborn men’s lacrosse team fell to Aquinas on Saturday afternoon, 21-7, in WHAC action at Crestwood High School.
DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn lacrosse team struggled to find its rhythm against No. 3 Aquinas University on Saturday (Apr. 4).
Aquinas established an early rhythm, scoring five times in the opening quarter to take control of the contest. Dylan Thorpe got Michigan-Dearborn on the board late in the first, but the visitors carried a 5-1 lead into the second.
The Saints extended their advantage in the second quarter, finding the back of the net eight times to build a 13-2 lead at halftime. Gabriel De La Paz accounted for the Wolverines' second goal of the half, finishing off an assist from Garrett Kern.
Michigan-Dearborn showed resilience coming out of the break, putting together its strongest offensive stretch in the third quarter. Cole Rosenwald scored on the man-up opportunity, while Cooper Hallwood, Thorpe, and Kern each added goals in a four-goal run that helped the Wolverines regain momentum.
Jeremy Fancett added a fourth-quarter goal, also on a man-up chance, to round out the scoring for Michigan-Dearborn.
Thorpe led the Wolverines with two goals, while Kern contributed a goal and two assists. Rosenwald added a goal and an assist, and De La Paz chipped in a goal as part of a balanced offensive effort.
Defensively, Owen Reed made 21 saves in net, working throughout the contest against a high-volume Aquinas attack.
