Wolverines Fall to Indiana Tech in Midweek Matchup

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn lacrosse team dropped a 19-8 decision to Indiana Tech on Wednesday evening in WHAC play.
Indiana Tech set the tone early, scoring the game's first three goals and building a 7-3 advantage by the end of the opening quarter. The Wolverines found brief momentum in the first behind unassisted strikes from Charlie Woodcock and Aidan Meyers, while Garrett Kern added a late goal off an assist from Cole Rosenwald to keep UM-Dearborn within striking distance.
The second quarter, however, proved decisive as Indiana Tech held Maize & Blue scoreless while adding four more goals to extend the lead to 11-3 at halftime.
Out of the break, the Wolverines showed flashes offensively. Meyers netted a man-up goal midway through the third quarter and later added another, finishing with a team-high four goals. Despite those efforts, Indiana Tech continued to answer, outscoring UM-Dearborn 5-2 in the frame to take a commanding 16-5 lead into the fourth.
The Maize & Blue closed the game with some positive momentum, scoring three times in the final quarter. Kern added his second goal of the night on a man-up opportunity, Dylan Thorpe converted another extra-man chance, and Meyers capped his strong performance with his fourth goal of the contest.
Rosenwald led the Wolverines with two assists, while Jeremy Fancett and Reece Rath each contributed a helper. Defensively, Owen Reed made 13 saves in net, while the team collected 34 ground balls.
Indiana Tech was led by Ryan Tedesco's five goals and a balanced offensive attack that saw six different players record multi-point performances. The visitors also controlled possession at the faceoff dot, winning 19 of 30 attempts, and held a 45-34 edge in ground balls.
UM-Dearborn (6-9, 3-7 WHAC) will look to bounce back in its next conference contest against Taylor University on Tuesday, April 21st at 6 pm.
