DEARBORN, Mich. — The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team dropped its home opener Wednesday night, falling 77–61 to Rochester Christian (Mich.) inside the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
Despite a strong third-quarter surge, the Wolverines were unable to overcome early turnovers and a cold second quarter that saw them score just seven points. Rochester Christian capitalized on UM-Dearborn's miscues, converting 22 points off turnovers while shooting an efficient 50 percent from the floor.
Marissa Thomas led the Wolverines with 16 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, while Bailey Stimac knocked down five three-pointers to finish with 15 points. Lillian Golson added 13 points and two rebounds, and Tamia Tounsel posted a near double-double with eight points and nine boards.
Rochester Christian was paced by Jacey Somers with 19 points and six rebounds, and Mylah Aalse added 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting. The Wolverines look to bounce back at home on Wednesday (Nov. 5) against Ohio Christian.
