Slow Start Costs Wolverines in Road Loss at Madonna

LIVONIA, Mich. – UM-Dearborn struggled to overcome a slow start and fell 64–53 on the road Wednesday night, as the Wolverines were held to just two points in the opening quarter against Madonna.
The Wolverines were limited to 1-of-11 shooting in the first 10 minutes and trailed 18–2 after one, putting them in an early hole. UM-Dearborn found a better offensive rhythm in the second quarter, outscoring Madonna 16–18 and trimming the deficit to 36–18 at halftime behind improved ball movement and perimeter shooting.
UM-Dearborn continued to chip away in the third quarter, turning in its strongest offensive stretch of the night. The Wolverines poured in 20 points in the period, cutting the margin to 48–38 entering the fourth as the defense forced turnovers and created transition opportunities.
