Tounsel Nets 1,000 Career Points in Loss Against Indiana Tech
A tough offensive night and a decisive third quarter led to an 89–36 loss for the University of Michigan-Dearborn women’s basketball team against Indiana Tech on Saturday afternoon at The Fieldhouse.
DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team was unable to find its footing offensively, falling 89–36 to Indiana Tech on February 7.
Indiana Tech set the tone early, jumping out to a 15–7 lead after the first quarter and extending the margin to 33–13 by halftime. UM-Dearborn struggled to generate consistent looks, shooting just 19.2 percent from the field in the opening half.
The game broke open in the third quarter, as Indiana Tech poured in 32 points while holding the Wolverines to 15. The visitors shot efficiently from the floor and capitalized on turnovers to build a commanding advantage heading into the final period.
UM-Dearborn was unable to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter, scoring eight points as Indiana Tech closed out the contest. The Wolverines finished the game shooting 27.3 percent from the field and 21.4 percent from three-point range.
Marissa Thomas led UM-Dearborn with 12 points, while Tamia Tounsel added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Bailey Stimac chipped in nine points, and Lillian Golson recorded three steals off the bench.
Defensively, the Wolverines were forced into 21 turnovers and were outscored 32–15 in the decisive third quarter. Indiana Tech shot 52.3 percent from the field and connected on 11 three-pointers in the win.
