Tounsel’s Double-Double Lifts Wolverines Past Siena Heights on the Road

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's basketball team picked up a key WHAC road win on Saturday, edging Siena Heights 62–60 in a tight matchup that went down to the final possession.
The Wolverines opened the afternoon with one of their strongest quarters of the season, racing out to a 24–12 lead behind efficient ball movement and dominant interior play from senior forward Tamia Tounsel. Siena Heights countered with an 18-11 second quarter to trim the UM-Dearborn advantage to 35–30 at halftime.
The teams traded baskets throughout the third, with both sides scoring 14 in the frame, but the Wolverines maintained composure each time the Saints threatened. Siena Heights made its final push late in the fourth, cutting the deficit to a single possession, but UM-Dearborn locked in defensively and made critical stops in the closing minute to seal the win and improve to 3–5 overall and 1–2 in WHAC play.
Tounsel delivered a dominant performance, posting 21 points and a game-high 16 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Marissa Thomas added 17 points, hitting a pair of threes and going 5-for-6 at the free-throw line, while Bailey Stimac chipped in 11 points, including three triples. Lillian Golson rounded out the starters in double figures with nine points and five boards, and Sydney Dixon contributed four assists and three steals while going a perfect 1-for-1 from the field.
UM-Dearborn out-rebounded Siena Heights 45–26, including 10 offensive boards that led to crucial second-chance opportunities. The Wolverines also shot an efficient 44% from the floor and held the Saints to just 25% from three-point range.
Siena Heights was led by Lauren DeWolf, who scored a game-high 25 points, and Josette Zuvers, who added 10 off the bench.
