Slow Start Dooms UM-Dearborn in Home Loss to Lourdes
The University of Michigan-Dearborn women’s basketball team was unable to overcome an early deficit, as Lourdes used a strong opening quarter and balanced scoring to hand the Wolverines a 75–48 loss Saturday afternoon at The Fieldhouse.

UM-Dearborn struggled to find offensive rhythm early, as Lourdes opened the game on an 18–5 first-quarter run and never relinquished control. The Wolverines showed improvement in the second quarter, scoring 14 points, but Lourdes continued to build its lead behind efficient shooting and strong rebounding to take a 38–19 advantage into halftime.
UM-Dearborn competed more evenly in the second half, putting together its best stretch in the third quarter with 16 points. Tamia Tounsel provided a steady presence inside, finishing with 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds, while Lillian Golson added 10 points off the bench. Despite the improved effort, Lourdes consistently answered, extending the margin with balanced scoring and second-chance opportunities.
The Wolverines were unable to close the gap in the fourth quarter, as Lourdes capped the game with an 18-point period to secure the 75–48 final. UM-Dearborn shot 36.7 percent from the field but was limited to 1-for-14 from three-point range, while Lourdes converted 10 three-pointers and held a 46–35 rebounding edge.
UM-Dearborn will look to regroup and build on the positives from the second half as it continues conference play.
