Dell Named WHAC Defensive Player of the Week
David Dell earned WHAC Weekly honors for the first time this season.
DEARBORN, Mich. – University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey defenseman David Dell has been named the WHAC Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Dell played a pivotal role in the Wolverines' weekend sweep over Aquinas College, contributing on both ends of the ice. The junior defenseman tallied a goal and an assist across the two-game series, helping UM-Dearborn improve to 4-2-0 in conference play this season.
In Friday's 5-4 road win, Dell found the back of the net in what would prove to be the game-winning goal, and added a helper, setting the tone for the Wolverines' high-powered offense. He followed that performance with another strong showing in Saturday's 7-3 victory, where he anchored a defensive unit that successfully killed off all seven Aquinas power plays.
Dell's steady presence on the blue line and his ability to contribute offensively have made him a key part of UM-Dearborn's strong start to open the season.
