Overtime Power-Play Goal Lifts Indiana Tech Past UM-Dearborn, 4-3
The University of Michigan-Dearborn men’s hockey team erased a first-period deficit and battled into overtime Saturday afternoon, but a late power-play goal gave Indiana Tech a 4-3 victory in a tightly contested matchup.

DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn skated stride-for-stride with Indiana Tech before falling 4-3 in overtime at the Indiana Tech Warriors home rink.
Indiana Tech opened the scoring midway through the first period on a goal from Ryan Doucette, but UM-Dearborn responded with a strong second period. Brenden Paden tied the game at 10:09 on the power play, finishing assists from Zak Januszkowski and Caleb Cathcart. Just under three minutes later, Ryan Teets gave UM-Dearborn a 2-1 lead off a feed from Jake Emery and David Dell.
The Warriors answered later in the second to even the game at 2-2 heading into the third.
In the final period, Januszkowski put UM-Dearborn back in front at 16:22, converting assists from Emery and Cathcart. However, Indiana Tech responded less than two minutes later with a power-play goal to tie the game 3-3 and force overtime.
The decisive moment came at 5:10 of the extra session when Indiana Tech capitalized on a power play to seal the 4-3 win.
Jake Emery and Caleb Cathcart each recorded two assists for UM-Dearborn, while Januszkowski added a goal and an assist. Teets and Paden also found the back of the net in the balanced offensive effort.
In goal, Trevor Heslop made 33 saves on 37 shots as UM-Dearborn was outshot 37-28 overall. Special teams proved pivotal, with UM-Dearborn going 1-for-6 on the power play while Indiana Tech converted twice on six opportunities.
