DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team dropped a 6-1 decision to Indiana Tech on Thursday night at the Allen Park Civic Arena.
The Warriors (4-3-2, 3-0-2 WHAC) came out firing early, scoring four times in the opening period to take control of the game. Malik Ali started the scoring at 3:23 before Francesco Santaniello added another at 8:00.
UM-Dearborn (4-5-0, 4-3-0 WHAC) answered moments later on the power play as David Dell buried his third goal of the season off assists from Joey Cibor and Bailey Byrd at 9:10. Indiana Tech responded quickly, regaining momentum with goals from Mason Bazaluk and Maksym Maiuk to close out the first period ahead 4-1.
Ali netted his second of the night midway through the second frame, and Bazaluk scored again in the third to cap the scoring.
Despite the final margin, the Wolverines generated offensive pressure, outshooting Indiana Tech 31-27. Goaltenders Trevor Heslop and Isaac Kolasa combined for 21 saves, while Tech's Gage Reimer stopped 30 shots in the win.
