Hartwell Named WHAC Defensive Player of the Week
Max Hartwell earns WHAC Weekly honors for the first time in his career.
DEARBORN, Mich. – University of Michigan-Dearborn senior defenseman Max Hartwell has been named the WHAC Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Hartwell, a native of Utica, Mich., played a pivotal role on both ends of the ice during the Wolverines' weekend sweep of Rochester Christian. The senior blueliner tallied two power-play goals and added two assists for a four-point weekend, anchoring a defensive unit that held the opposition to just five goals across two games.
In Friday's 13-3 home win, Hartwell notched a goal and two assists to help spark the Wolverines' offensive surge. He followed that performance with another power-play goal in Saturday's 5-2 road victory, continuing to make his presence felt in special teams play.
The recognition marks one of the top individual honors of the week in WHAC hockey, highlighting Hartwell's leadership and consistency on the back end for Michigan-Dearborn.
