WYANDOTTE, Mich. – After a slow start, the Michigan-Dearborn hockey team erupted for eight unanswered goals on Thursday night, powering past UM-Flint 8–3 at the Yack Arena. The victory moves the Wolverines to 8–6–0 on the season.
UM-Flint jumped ahead 2–0 in the first period, including a shorthanded tally at 16:04. But the Wolverines completely flipped the script in the second, scoring five goals in a span of seven minutes to seize control.
Ryan Teets opened the scoring at 11:20, followed by rapid-fire goals from Jamieson Franz and Dawson Nelson to give UM-Dearborn the lead. A power-play blast from Liam Summitt and a late strike from Brenden Paden sent the Wolverines into the locker room up 5–2.
UM-Dearborn kept rolling in the third. David Dell scored just 52 seconds into the period, and power-play goals from Carter Allen and Jake Emery extended the advantage. Dell finished with three points (1g, 2a), while Joey Cibor and Noah Szmagaj each added two assists.
In goal, Trevor Heslop earned the win with 12 saves over 40 minutes, while the Wolverines outshot UM-Flint 65–19 and went 3-for-4 on the power play.
UM-Flint added a late goal from Wesley Jung to round out the scoring.
