CHICAGO, Ill. -- A balanced effort on both ends of the ice helped the University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team cap its weekend with a 4–2 victory over the University of Delaware on Saturday night at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.
UM-Dearborn struck first and carried the lead throughout, opening the scoring at 7:50 of the first period when Jake Emery buried his second of the season off a setup from Joey Cibor and Ethan Marcola. The Wolverines held a 1–0 lead through the opening 20 minutes.
In the second, Brenden Paden extended the advantage with an unassisted goal at 15:25, his 12th of the year. Delaware answered late in the period on a goal from Thomas Weekes at 19:45, trimming the UM-Dearborn lead to 2–1 heading into the third.
The Blue Hens found the equalizer early in the final frame, tying the game 2–2 at 6:51. The Wolverines responded with poise, capitalizing on a power play at 13:43 when Cibor fired in his seventh of the season off a feed from Caleb Cathcart, giving UM-Dearborn the lead back for good.
With Delaware pressing late, the Wolverines sealed the win as Max Hartwell sent a long-range empty-netter into the cage with four seconds remaining.
UM-Dearborn finished 1-for-4 on the power play and held Delaware scoreless on five opportunities. Isaac Kolasa secured his fourth win of the season with a steady 21-save performance.
