Wolverines Grit Out Win at Home
The Wolverines improve to 1-1 in WHAC play.
DEARBORN, Mich. – Powered by a huge second-half push and another signature performance from junior guard Jackson Reynolds, the University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team earned a hard-fought 89–86 win over Lawrence Tech on Wednesday night at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
Trailing 41–39 at the break, the Wolverines erupted for 50 second-half points, shooting 50 percent from the floor after halftime and controlling the pace in the final minutes. Reynolds was the difference-maker, delivering 33 points, seven assists, and six rebounds while playing all 40 minutes.
UM-Dearborn's supporting cast stepped up in key moments. Luc Laketa added 11 points and six rebounds, while Zachary Cody chipped in seven points and five boards. Off the bench, Collin Miller (eight points), Jordan Taylor (six points), and Kevin Gillenwater (seven points) provided crucial scoring bursts to match LTU's perimeter-heavy attack.
Lawrence Tech attempted 37 three-pointers and connected on 14, including a game-high 28 points from Michael Afrakoff and 21 from Kerem Sariaslan. But the Wolverines countered with efficiency—shooting 46 percent from the field and 19-of-28 at the line—to seal the win down the stretch.
