Strong Start, Steady Finish Carry UM-Dearborn Past Aquinas, 73–63
The University of Michigan-Dearborn men’s basketball team controlled the tempo from the opening minutes and never relinquished the lead, earning a 73–63 home victory over Aquinas on Tuesday night.
DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team picked up a solid conference win on February 4, defeating Aquinas (MI) 73–63 behind an efficient offensive performance and disciplined defense.
UM-Dearborn set the tone early, building a 31–26 halftime advantage while shooting 51.7 percent from the field in the opening half. The Wolverines were balanced offensively and limited Aquinas to 37.9 percent shooting before the break.
The Wolverines maintained control in the second half, answering each Aquinas push with timely baskets and defensive stops. UM-Dearborn added 42 points over the final 20 minutes to gradually extend the margin and close out the win without allowing the visitors to take the lead.
Jackson Reynolds led all scorers with 25 points on 11-of-19 shooting, adding three steals and three assists. Collin Miller provided a strong spark off the bench with 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting and a perfect 4-for-4 effort from the free-throw line. Luc Laketa contributed a well-rounded stat line with nine points, seven rebounds, and four assists, while Abed Abuzahrah added seven points and five rebounds.
UM-Dearborn finished the game shooting an even 50.0 percent from the field and went 12-for-15 at the free-throw line. Defensively, the Wolverines held Aquinas to 37.1 percent shooting and forced 17 turnovers, helping maintain control throughout the contest.
