Early Deficit Too Much to Overcome as UM-Dearborn Falls 90–68 to Indiana Tech
A fast start by Indiana Tech put the University of Michigan-Dearborn men’s basketball team in an early hole, as the Wolverines were unable to fully recover in a 90–68 loss Saturday afternoon at The Fieldhouse.
DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team dropped a 90–68 decision to Indiana Tech on February 7, as the visitors built a sizable first-half lead and maintained control throughout the contest.
Indiana Tech came out firing, scoring 54 points in the opening half while shooting efficiently from the floor and beyond the arc. UM-Dearborn struggled to match the pace offensively, trailing 54–30 at halftime after shooting 31.4 percent in the first half.
The Wolverines showed improved energy after the break, outscoring Indiana Tech 38–36 in the second half. UM-Dearborn found more success attacking the basket and moving the ball, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
Abed Abuzahrah led UM-Dearborn with 14 points and five rebounds off the bench, while Jackson Reynolds added 11 points and five assists. Kevin Gillenwater provided a spark with 10 points and six rebounds, and Luc Laketa chipped in eight points, seven rebounds, and two blocks.
UM-Dearborn finished the game shooting 32.1 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from three-point range. Indiana Tech held a significant edge on the glass, outrebounding the Wolverines 56–45, and converted 11 three-pointers to help maintain separation.
