Fast-Paced Shootout Goes Against Wolverines at Madonna
UM-Dearborn kept pace offensively in the first half but could not slow a high-efficiency attack from Madonna, as the Wolverines fell 106–82 on the road Wednesday night despite four players reaching double figures.
LIVONIA, Mich. – UM-Dearborn was unable to keep pace with an efficient offensive performance, falling 106–82 on the road Wednesday night against Madonna.
The Wolverines stayed competitive early, scoring 41 points in the first half, but trailed 52–41 at the break after Madonna shot nearly 60 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes. UM-Dearborn knocked down 13 three-pointers on the night and continued to find success from the perimeter, but struggled to generate consistent stops defensively.
Madonna extended the margin in the second half, pouring in 54 points while maintaining its shooting efficiency. The Wolverines matched the Crusaders point-for-point in the half, scoring another 41 points, but could not overcome the first-half deficit as Madonna controlled the paint and the glass.
Abed Abuzahrah led UM-Dearborn with 17 points off the bench, hitting four three-pointers. Kevin Gillenwater added 16 points and seven rebounds, while Jackson Reynolds finished with 15 points and Logan Hamama chipped in 13 points. UM-Dearborn placed four players in double figures and assisted on 18 baskets.
UM-Dearborn shot 35.8 percent from the field and 36.1 percent from beyond the arc, while Madonna finished the night at 57.8 percent shooting and held a 47–28 advantage on the boards. The Wolverines forced 18 turnovers but were unable to turn those into a sustained comeback.
