DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn received a career night from Jackson Reynolds, but a balanced offensive effort by Cornerstone proved decisive as the Wolverines dropped a 94–84 decision on Wednesday night in WHAC action at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
Cornerstone built a narrow five-point advantage at halftime and never relinquished the lead, shooting better than 50 percent from the field while answering every Michigan-Dearborn run in the second half.
The Golden Eagles took a 50–45 lead into the break behind efficient interior play and strong ball movement. Michigan-Dearborn kept pace early, fueled by Reynolds' shot-making from the perimeter, but Cornerstone opened the second half with timely baskets to maintain control. The Wolverines cut the deficit to single digits multiple times, including a late push inside the final five minutes, but Cornerstone closed the game at the free-throw line and with second-chance points.
Reynolds led all scorers with 36 points on 11-of-21 shooting, knocking down six three-pointers and adding six assists and three steals. Luc Laketa added 14 points and four assists, while Abdulrahman Helwa provided a spark off the bench with 12 points, including three triples.
Cornerstone placed four players in double figures, led by Blake Stewart's 24 points and 11 rebounds. Kayden Bird chipped in 20 points, Levi Schultz posted 14 points and 11 boards, and Mark DeVries added nine points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
