Second-Half Surge Lifts UM-Dearborn to 88–80 Road Win at Lawrence Tech
Jackson Reynolds scored 27 second-half points to fuel a 17-point comeback on the road.
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's basketball team turned the tables after halftime, outscoring Lawrence Tech 48–28 in the second half to secure an 88–80 win on January 22.
UM-Dearborn found itself trailing 52–40 at the break after Lawrence Tech shot well in the opening 20 minutes and built a lead that reached as many as 14 points. Despite the deficit, the Wolverines stayed within striking distance behind the scoring of Jackson Reynolds and Luc Laketa.
The momentum shifted decisively after halftime. UM-Dearborn increased its defensive pressure and found its rhythm offensively, shooting 54.2 percent from the field in the second half. The Wolverines steadily chipped away at the lead before pulling ahead midway through the period and never relinquishing control.
Reynolds delivered a standout performance, pouring in a game-high 34 points while adding eight rebounds and going 14-for-16 from the free-throw line. Laketa followed with 21 points on an efficient 7-of-12 shooting, including three three-pointers, while also grabbing six rebounds.
UM-Dearborn shot 49.2 percent from the field and an impressive 42.9 percent from beyond the arc for the game, connecting on nine three-pointers. The Wolverines also capitalized at the foul line, making 21 of 27 free throws.
Off the bench, Kevin Gillenwater contributed eight points and five rebounds, while Abdulrahman Helwa added seven points. Defensively, UM-Dearborn limited Lawrence Tech to just 36.6 percent shooting overall in the second half and forced 13 turnovers.
