No.6 Wolverines Split with No. 4 Maryville
The University of Michigan-Dearborn women’s ice hockey team was unable to overcome an early surge from Maryville, falling 6–2 despite goals in the final two periods.
REDFORD, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team dropped a 6–2 decision to Maryville on Saturday afternoon at Redford Ice Arena.
Maryville struck twice in the opening period, including a power-play goal, to take a 2–0 lead after one. The Saints extended their advantage early in the second, scoring four times, highlighted by a shorthanded goal and two power-play tallies to build a 5–1 cushion.
Michigan-Dearborn responded late in the second period when Stephanie Hatch put the Wolverines on the board with a power-play goal at 8:48, assisted by Zoe Zaifman and Taylor Spence. The Wolverines added their second goal midway through the third, as Cadence Pero finished a feed from Maya Ferracciolo and Zaifman.
Nicole Alexander stopped all 11 shots she faced in relief of Kenna Borso. Borso recorded 16 saves. UM-Dearborn went 1-for-7 on the power play and finished with 21 shots in the contest.
