Wolverines Shutout Eagles 4-0, Completing the Weekend Sweep
Another dominant defensive effort capped a perfect weekend as the University of Michigan–Dearborn women’s ice hockey team blanked Eastern Michigan for the second straight night, controlling play from start to finish Saturday evening.
CHELSEA, Mich. -- The University of Michigan–Dearborn women's ice hockey team earned a 4–0 victory over Eastern Michigan on Jan. 31, completing a weekend sweep and extending its strong run with a second consecutive shutout of the Eagles.
UM-Dearborn set the tone early, opening the scoring at 12:25 of the first period when Pallavi Hari capitalized on the power play, finishing a setup from Taylor Spence. The Wolverines added an insurance goal late in the frame as Maya Ferracciolo found the net at 19:47 off a feed from Ashley Savage to take a 2–0 lead into the intermission.
The Wolverines continued to dictate play in the second period, hemming Eastern Michigan in its own zone and outshooting the Eagles 8–4 in the frame. Hari struck again at 18:40, netting her second goal of the game—once more assisted by Spence—to push the lead to three.
UM-Dearborn put the game away in the third period when Bella Metcalf scored at 14:02, finishing off a sustained offensive shift to make it 4–0.
The Wolverines dominated the shot totals, outshooting Eastern Michigan 45–17, and controlled special teams throughout the night. UM-Dearborn went 1-for-11 on the power play while limiting the Eagles to 0-for-6 with the advantage.
In net, Nicole Alexander was flawless, stopping all 17 shots she faced to earn the shutout. Eastern Michigan rotated goalies, with Reese Doti and Alexis Humphris combining for 41 saves.
