DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team continued its strong season on February 6, defeating Miami (OH) 7–5 in a high-scoring nonconference matchup.
Miami struck early just 31 seconds into the game, but UM-Dearborn responded with two first-period goals to take a 2–1 lead into the intermission. Megan Kosempel tied the game on the power play midway through the period before Pallavi Hari gave the Wolverines the lead late in the frame.
The second period featured end-to-end action and five combined goals. Grace Taylor extended the lead early in the period, but Miami answered twice to briefly pull even. UM-Dearborn regained control behind goals from Zoe Zaifman and Andi Evers, sending the Wolverines into the third period with a 5–4 advantage.
Miami tied the game early in the third, but UM-Dearborn responded with two decisive goals in the final six minutes. Taylor netted her second goal of the night to restore the lead before Taylor Spence sealed the win with an empty-net goal at the final horn.
Taylor led the Wolverines with two goals, while Spence finished with a goal and an assist. Kosempel added a goal and an assist, and Evers chipped in a goal and a helper. Cadence Pero anchored the offense with three assists, while UM-Dearborn placed three players among the game's three stars: Taylor, Pero, and Evers.
In net, Kenna Borso earned the win after stopping 32 shots as the Wolverines outshot Miami 48–37. UM-Dearborn also capitalized on its lone power-play opportunity and limited the RedHawks to one short-handed goal.
