Wolverines Overwhelm Lawrence Tech in 6–0 Shutout Victory on Senior Night
A dominant offensive performance and an airtight defensive effort propelled the University of Michigan-Dearborn women’s ice hockey team to a commanding 6–0 win over Lawrence Tech on Saturday night in Dearborn.
DEARBORN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team continued its strong season with a decisive 6–0 victory over Lawrence Tech on February 14, improving to 26-3-0 overall and 13-1 in conference play.
The Wolverines set the tone early, striking just over four minutes into the opening period when Maya Ferracciolo scored unassisted. Kerrigan Kennedy added a second goal at 12:21, finishing a setup from Nicole Hahn and Finnia O'Neill Di Mascio to give UM-Dearborn a 2–0 lead after one.
The second period saw the Wolverines pull away. Zoe Zaifman scored at 8:25 off an assist from Megan Kosempel, followed by Amy Palaian's tally at 13:46. Grace Taylor extended the advantage to 5–0 at 15:27, capitalizing on a play created by Pallavi Hari and Cadence Pero.
Andi Evers capped the scoring in the third period with an unassisted goal at 7:01.
UM-Dearborn controlled every facet of the contest, outshooting Lawrence Tech 75–13, including 20 shots in the first period and 28 in the third. The Wolverines dominated puck possession and limited the Blue Devils' offensive opportunities throughout the game.
Nicole Alexander and Kenna Borso combined for the shutout, stopping all 13 shots faced. Borso earned the win in relief to improve to 17-3 on the season.
