Early Goals Push No. 6 Adrian Past No. 3 Wolverines on the Road
The University of Michigan-Dearborn women’s ice hockey team was unable to complete a weekend sweep, falling 4–1 to Adrian (ACHA D1) on Saturday night in Adrian, Michigan
ADRIAN, Mich. -- The University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team ran into an early deficit and could not recover in a 4–1 road loss to Adrian (ACHA D1).
Adrian opened the scoring midway through the first period, striking at the 13:00 mark to take a 1–0 lead. The Wolverines settled in as the game progressed, but Adrian capitalized quickly early in the second period with two goals in a 33-second span to extend the margin to 3–0.
UM-Dearborn responded later in the second period when Cadence Pero got the Wolverines on the board at 7:50, finishing a play created by Stephanie Hatch and Pallavi Hari. The goal provided a spark and cut the deficit to 3–1 heading into the final frame.
Any momentum was short-lived, however, as Adrian added an insurance goal just 2:44 into the third period to restore a three-goal advantage. The Wolverines continued to compete but were unable to generate another breakthrough offensively.
Kenna Borso made 35 saves in net for UM-Dearborn, facing heavy pressure throughout the contest. The Wolverines finished with 30 shots on goal but could not solve Adrian goaltender Rieley Jessie-Gerelli more than once.
With the loss, UM-Dearborn closed the weekend split against Adrian, regrouping after Friday's overtime victory as it looks ahead to its next stretch of games.
