DEARBORN, Mich. – The No. 5 University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team capped its weekend with a hard-fought 2–1 win over Arizona on Saturday, using timely scoring and a dominant final frame to secure its 17th victory of the season.
UM-Dearborn struck first late in the opening period when Cadence Pero converted on the power play at 16:20, burying a feed from Stephanie Hatch to put the Wolverines ahead 1–0. That goal would stand as the lone tally through a tightly contested second period that featured strong goaltending on both sides.
The Wolverines added crucial insurance midway through the third. After sustained offensive pressure, Zoe Zaifman ripped home a power-play marker at 14:51, finishing a setup from Grace Adriaanse and Charlise Wharram to make it 2–0.
Arizona fought back, cutting the deficit to one with 2:38 remaining on a goal from Kenzie Carson, but the Wolverines' defense closed the door from there. UM-Dearborn held the Wildcats without another quality chance and sealed the weekend sweep.
Goaltender Nicole Alexander remained unbeaten on the season, improving to 7–0 with a 22-save performance. UM-Dearborn outshot Arizona 39–23, including a commanding 20-shot third period that tilted the ice in the Wolverines' favor.
