ALLENDALE, Mich. – The No. 6 University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team extended its unbeaten start to the season with a dominant 7-1 win over Grand Valley State on Saturday night.
The Wolverines (8-0-0, 3-0-0) came out firing in the first period, netting three quick goals in the opening 11 minutes. Ellee Kloian opened the scoring off assists from Maya Ferracciolo and Grace Adriaanse, followed by a power-play goal from Pallavi Hari, who then added her second of the night just four minutes later.
Ferracciolo scored early in the second period before Grand Valley State broke through with its lone tally at 6:04. UM-Dearborn answered quickly as Charlise Wharram found the back of the net to make it 5-1 heading into the third.
Hari completed her hat trick at 8:22 of the final frame, and Zoe Zaifman added a power-play goal moments later to seal the win.
Nicole Alexander was strong in net, making 21 saves in her fourth win of the season.
UM-Dearborn outshot the Lakers 42-22 and went 2-for-4 on the power play.
