No. 6 Wolverines Stage Late Comeback to Sweep No. 10 Miami (OH)
Ashley Savage scored the late winner to sweep Miami (OH) on Saturday.
OXFORD, Ohio -- The No. 6 University of Michigan-Dearborn women's ice hockey team erased an early deficit and scored twice in the third period to secure a 3–2 win over No. 10 Miami (OH) on February 7.
Miami (OH) struck first in the opening period, scoring twice off the stick of Cronin to take a 2–0 lead. Despite the early goals, UM-Dearborn controlled much of the play, peppering the Miami net with shots but coming up empty in the first 20 minutes.
The Wolverines broke through late in the second period when Cadence Pero finished a feed from Pallavi Hari at 17:14 to cut the deficit to 2–1 heading into the third.
UM-Dearborn continued to apply pressure in the final frame and was rewarded midway through the period. On the power play, Pallavi Hari tied the game at 12:44 with assists from Zoe Zaifman and Pero. Just under three minutes later, Ashley Savage netted the game-winning goal at 15:31, capitalizing on a setup from Megan Kosempel to give the Wolverines their first lead of the afternoon.
Kenna Borso earned the win in net for UM-Dearborn, stopping 13 of 15 shots, while the Wolverines dominated possession and finished with a commanding 43–15 advantage in shots on goal.
