Saturday: Borso Shines as Wolverines Knock Off McKendree, 3-1
UM-Dearborn goaltender Kenna Borso delivered one of her best performances of the season, stopping 41 of 42 shots to backstop the Wolverines to a 3-1 victory Saturday night.
Nicole Hahn opened the scoring midway through the first period, netting her sixth goal of the season to give UM-Dearborn an early lead.
After a scoreless second period, McKendree briefly tied the game early in the third on a shorthanded tally, but the Wolverines responded immediately as Pallavi Hari buried her eighth goal less than two minutes later to restore the lead.
Cadence Pero sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the closing minutes.
The Wolverines were outshot 42-24, but Borso's stellar goaltending and a strong defensive effort preserved the win. Neither team converted on the power play, with UM-Dearborn going 0-for-4 and McKendree 0-for-5.
