UM-Dearborn Falls to Rochester Christian in WHAC Opener

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team opened conference play on the road Wednesday night but came up short against Rochester Christian, falling 3-1 (25-15, 20-25, 25-21, 25-19) at Garth Pleasant Arena.
The Wolverines (2-7, 0-1 WHAC) battled back in the second set behind cleaner attacking and timely defense, but the Warriors (6-3, 1-0 WHAC) used a balanced offensive effort to close out the match in four sets.
UM-Dearborn was led by Abigail Goldobin, who tallied a team-high 14 kills and added four block assists for 15 points. Marisa Fetterley contributed seven kills and three blocks, while Alyssa Evans and Monti Rotter each chipped in six kills. Setter Nalani Schanz kept the offense moving with 30 assists and added nine digs. Defensively, Laura Chandler anchored the back row with a match-high 19 digs.
Despite the strong individual efforts, UM-Dearborn struggled with efficiency, finishing with 36 kills against 39 errors for a -.020 hitting percentage.
Rochester Christian countered with a well-rounded attack led by Kendal Zeiter (14 kills, .258 hitting) and Chante Hudgins (8 kills, 10 blocks), while Alivia Everitt added five kills at a .308 clip. As a team, the Warriors hit .110 and recorded 18 total blocks to stifle the Wolverines' attack.
