UM-Dearborn Splits Final Day at Blue Angel Bash

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team picked up its first win of the 2025 season Saturday (Aug. 23) morning before falling in its second match of the day to close out play at the Blue Angel Bash.
In the opener, the Wolverines earned a straight-set victory over host Mount Mary University, 25-23, 25-20, 25-16. After a slow start offensively, UM-Dearborn found its rhythm in the second and third sets, hitting .333 in the finale to secure the sweep. Abigail Goldobin led the way with 11 kills, while Marisa Fetterley added eight at a .353 clip. Jill Paryaski turned in an efficient seven kills on eight swings (.875), and Laura Chandler anchored the defense with 15 digs to go with six aces from the service line. Setter Nalani Schanz directed the offense with 24 assists.
The Wolverines carried momentum into their afternoon matchup with St. Mary-of-the-Woods but ultimately dropped a 3-1 decision (25-11, 21-25, 25-21, 25-17). After responding in the second set to even the match, UM-Dearborn couldn't sustain its attack, finishing with a .091 hitting percentage. Fetterley led with eight kills and two aces, while Paryaski chipped in six kills. Schanz once again paced the offense with 26 assists, and Chandler collected a team-high 14 digs.
UM-Dearborn moves to 1-3 overall on the season and will continue nonconference play next week.
