UM-Dearborn Battles in Five-Set Heartbreaker at UNOH

LIMA, Ohio — The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team put together one of its strongest performances of the season but came up just short in a 3-2 (13-25, 25-22, 17-25, 25-19, 15-13) loss to Northwestern Ohio on Saturday afternoon in WHAC action.
The Wolverines came out strong, dominating the opening set 25-13 behind a .324 team hitting percentage and 17 kills. After dropping the second set, UM-Dearborn responded in the third with another efficient offensive frame (.264) to regain the lead. However, UNOH rallied late, taking the fourth and edging the Wolverines in a tight fifth set.
Junior Marisa Fetterley led the Wolverines with a team-high 19 kills and added four block assists for 21.5 points. Monti Rotter followed with 13 kills, while Abigail Goldobin added 12. Setter Nalani Schanz was outstanding, dishing out 57 assists and contributing four points and two aces.
Defensively, Laura Chandler anchored the back row with 35 digs, while Alyssa Evans added eight kills, three aces, and a solo block. UM-Dearborn finished with 61 kills, 10 aces, and 81 digs, hitting .180 as a team.
