UM-Dearborn Falls in Straight Sets to Lawrence Tech

DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team opened WHAC play at home Wednesday morning but was unable to overcome a strong Lawrence Tech squad, falling 3-0 (25-18, 25-6, 25-23) at the Fieldhouse.
The Wolverines (2-8, 0-2 WHAC) found themselves in an early hole after the Blue Devils (7-1, 1-0 WHAC) controlled the opening two sets with efficient attacking, hitting .261 in the first and an impressive .517 in the second. UM-Dearborn battled back in the third, keeping pace with Lawrence Tech in a back-and-forth set, but late errors proved costly as the visitors closed out the sweep.
Marisa Fetterley paced the Wolverines' offense with seven kills while adding three block assists for a team-high 9.5 points. Chelsea Houghton chipped in five kills, while Alyssa Evans and Princess Savage each added four. Setter Nalani Schanz finished with 17 assists and three service aces, while libero Laura Chandler anchored the defense with 12 digs.
As a team, UM-Dearborn tallied 23 kills but was held to a -.009 hitting percentage against Lawrence Tech's balanced defense.
The Blue Devils were led by Sydney Eggleton, who recorded a match-high 14 kills and two aces, while Kyndal James added seven kills on a .636 hitting percentage. LTU finished with 34 kills, 10 service aces, and a .287 team hitting percentage.
