Wolverines Drop Road Match Against Cornerstone
The Wolverines take on RCU on Wednesday (Oct. 8).
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team closed out its weekend road trip with a 3-0 loss to Cornerstone University on Saturday in WHAC action. The Golden Eagles defended their home court with set scores of 25-6, 25-13, and 25-16.
The Wolverines (2-16, 0-10 WHAC) struggled to find rhythm offensively, finishing with a -.072 hitting percentage against a strong Cornerstone defense. Chelsea Houghton led the way with five kills, while Monti Rotter added four and Sienna Potter tallied 11 assists. Laura Chandler anchored the back row with a team-high 11 digs, and Princess Savage contributed to the defensive effort with four block assists.
Cornerstone (16-4, 8-2 WHAC) hit an impressive .321 for the match, led by Gwyn VerBerkmoes, who finished with seven kills and two aces. Setter Payton Hutchinson dished out 19 assists, while the Golden Eagles tallied nine service aces and 14 total blocks as a team.
