DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team battled through four sets but came up short in a 3-1 loss to Defiance College on Wednesday afternoon at The Fieldhouse.
The Yellow Jackets claimed the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-19, before the Wolverines fought back with a strong third set, hitting .184 as a team to take a 26-24 win. Defiance responded quickly in the fourth, using a .440 attack percentage to close out the match 25-12.
Senior Abigail Goldobin led the UM-Dearborn offense with 11 kills on a .276 hitting percentage, while Monti Rotter added six kills and 13 digs. Princess Savage chipped in five kills and three blocks, and Nalani Schanz paced the attack with 27 assists to go with two service aces. Defensively, Laura Chandler anchored the back row with 11 digs.
Defiance was led by Chaney Brodbeck, who tallied 15 kills and 13 digs, while Gabby Rodriguez added 12 kills and 15 points overall.
