Wolverines Lose in Straight Sets to Cornerstone
Alyssa Evans had a strong day for the Wolverines on Friday (Nov. 7).
DEARBORN, Mich. – The University of Michigan-Dearborn volleyball team started its final homestand of the season on Friday (Nov. 7), falling to Cornerstone University in straight sets (25-15, 25-17, 25-19) at the Fieldhouse.
The Wolverines battled throughout, showing strong moments in each set, but the Golden Eagles' efficient offense proved too much to overcome. Cornerstone hit an impressive .420 as a team while limiting UM-Dearborn to a .155 clip on the attack.
Senior Abigail Goldobin led the Wolverines with nine kills, while Alyssa Evans added six kills on a .267 hitting percentage. Monti Rotter contributed five kills and a pair of aces, and Princess Savage chipped in four kills while assisting on two blocks.
Setter Nalani Schanz directed the offense with 23 assists and also served up an ace. Laura Chandler tallied two service aces and five digs, while Rotter paced the back row with a team-high nine digs.
Cornerstone was led by Gabby VerBerkmoes and Gwyn VerBerkmoes, who each recorded 10 kills.
UM-Dearborn, now 3-24 overall and 1-18 in the WHAC, will close out the 2025 season on the road next week as conference play wraps up.
